Who Is FutureLaw?
Our in-house team consists of Barrie B. Bowers, Roger G. Bowers, Sarah D. Dicks and John G. "Chip" Dicks. We offer our clients a breadth of experience in public and government affairs, real estate, development and land use, public-private partnerships, and telecommunications.

John G. "Chip" Dicks, President of FutureLaw, served as an elected member of the Virginia General Assembly during the 1980's. Since leaving the Legislature, Chip has represented associations and businesses on administrative, legislative and regulatory matters before state government agencies and the General Assembly. He has substantial experience in representing developers on all kinds of land use applications in a number of localities in Virginia. Chip has expertise in the laws and regulations affecting billboard signs and in the field of landlord tenant and fair housing laws. Chip is a seasoned professional who helps the client identify and refine its strategic goals, and then establish an implementation plan to meet the client's timeframe for completion of a project.

Barrie B. Bowers is an attorney with former in-house experience for a major apartment real estate investment trust and understands the needs of real estate clients. She has extensive experience in a full range of management issues, real estate transactions, labor and employment issues and claims, and landlord tenant and fair housing laws. Barrie's diligent approach from beginning to end of a project helps maintain a focus on the finish line, while anticipating and attending to the details of the project along the way.

Roger G. Bowers is an attorney who has represented business and development clients for more than ten years. Roger has substantial experience with all aspects of real estate, land use, development, construction and rehabilitation. He has advised clients on numerous corporate, financing, procurement, leasing and local government matters. Roger's background in the title, survey and construction industries gives him the practical knowledge that is so important on development projects.

Sarah D. Dicks is an attorney with a Master's Degree in Planning. Sarah spent twelve years in state government working on a variety of governmental issues before the Virginia General Assembly, before joining FutureLaw in 2001. Sarah has substantial experience in the state legislative and regulatory process and assists clients in lobbying issues primarily in the Legislature. Sarah also uses her planning expertise with in the zoning and development practice of the firm. Sarah uses her creative skills to enhance the likelihood of success of development proposal.
