SARAH D. DICKS

Admitted to the Bar in 1986, Sarah Dicks has worked in both private practice and government with special emphasis on solving environmental and land use problems. The arenas in which she has tackled these problems are varied and wide-ranging: from rural to urban and suburban issues, from the complexities of the legislative process to environmental issues on farmland, and from wireless communications to land use cases. Sarah enjoys developing presentations that highlight the positive features of a client's proposed project or problem-solving of a particular issue.

In addition to having her Juris Doctor degree, Sarah also has a Master's Degree in Urban and Environmental planning. This provides her with an in-depth understanding of the goals that local governments typically seek to achieve through their comprehensive planning and zoning processes. Sarah's experience in running two environmental programs for a state government agency and negotiating with other governmental officials gives her a solid perspective of a wide range of issues that typically confront clients. Familiar with the regulatory process in Virginia, she is able to plan strategies that assert the client's interests in a manner understandable to government officials.

Sarah believes strongly that a positive and proper presentation of the client's case greatly enhances the client's prospects and reputation within a community. To present a client's case in the most positive light, Sarah brings to bear her background in writing, communication, and graphics to create an easily comprehensible, appealing package. This interdisciplinary approach to case presentation is a distinctive feature of the services that FutureLaw provides.
