BARRIE B. BOWERS
Barrie worked for 7 years as in-house counsel to an apartment real estate investment trust, where she advised the company on a full range of apartment management issues, real estate transactions, labor and employment issues and claims, and employee benefits. Barrie's in-house experience provides her a solid understanding of the objectives clients are trying to achieve, and enables her to effectively partner with clients to achieve results. Because of her in-house background, Barrie also has experience in a broad range of practice areas that enable her to provide full service to real estate clients. In her real estate practice, Barrie has handled a wide array of transactions, from portfolio acquisitions, to individual land purchases. Barrie understands and can advise clients on the full purchase and sale process, beginning with executing the letter of intent, to closing and beyond. She helps clients resolve easements, and other property-related agreements. Barrie is results-oriented, and assists clients in keeping focus on the important issues in any transaction. Barrie also regularly advises clients on ongoing apartment management issues. She counsels clients on all areas of landlord and tenant law, as well as telecommunications agreements, and other property management issues and contracts. Barrie also has extensive experience with fair housing laws, and both defends fair housing claims, and advises clients regarding their policies and procedures to make sure they are in compliance with the applicable laws. In the employment law arena, Barrie counsels clients on ongoing employee issues, and assists clients in establishing and maintaining employee policies. She also handles Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and other government agency claims.
